To provide a furnace or furnace body for open hearth, in which a furnace body in a floor cut type or setting type open hearth, an open fire table, an outdoor barbecue cooking stove or the like can be safely and cleanly moved with a burning material in the furnace body being in a burning state.

The furnace body 10 formed in a square box shape includes furnace projections 11 horizontally formed on four longitudinal outer sides of an upper furnace opening part 37; furnace support plates 57a constituting horizontal sides of furnace support parts 57 fixed to outer side surfaces at four corners of the furnace body 10; a square-shaped lid 36 for closing the furnace opening part 37, having slide grooves 39 to be inserted to three furnace projections 11, the grooves being formed on three side ends of the reverse surface of the lid; detachable handles 40 provided at both ends of the surface of the lid 36; a lock device 41 provided on the surface of one end having no slide groove 39 on the reverse side of the lid 36; and a lock part 52 formed at a tip of a spring part 47 of the lock device 41.
