To ensure certainty of a lock and easiness of unlocking process of furniture composed of a turning member such as a back support of a chair installed to a coupling device with a locking means.
The coupling device 11 is provided with a metallic fixed bearing 17, a metallic turning bearing 20 connected in a turnable manner, and a resin-made auxiliary bearing 18 attached to the fixed bearing 17. A lock pin 21 contained in the turning bearing 20 is fitted into a engagement groove 29 of the fixed bearing 17 to hold a back support 4 in a horizontal position. The lock pin 21 is engaged to/disengaged from the engagement groove 29 by sliding along its axial direction. When the back support 4 is raised in a locked state, the lock is unlocked. The smoothness of turning and the strength in an locked state can be ensured by forming the engagement groove 29 on the fixed bearing 17 and comprising the surface with which the lock pin 21 slidably comes in contact of the auxiliary bearing 18 (31).
