Abstract:
SA-11 rotavirus major inner capsid protein (VP6) was cloned and expressed in E. coli as a fusion protein. The fusion protein is formed by nine amino acids resulting from expression of a portion of the 5'-noncoding region immediately upstream of the lacZ gene linked to the six N-terminal amino acids of B-galactosidase in turn linked to rotavirus SA-11 major inner capsid protein VP6. The complete fusion protein and 27K and 24K fragments thereof (also referred to as fusion proteins according to the present invention) exhibited greater antigenicity than the native protein.
