To provide a game medium counting device which is a multi-tank type game medium counting device aiming at improvement in the speed of counting work and complements the fault of a hopper device as much as possible.

Each of two hopper devices 11 constituting a token counting device 1 is equipped with a first control unit 20, and furthermore a second control unit 25 for controlling these first control units 20 in a unified manner is provided on a body side of the counting device. The second control unit 25 includes a backup control part 26 which offers alternative support when the fault of the first control unit 20 arises. Additionally, each hopper device 11 is constituted so as to be freely separated, attached and detached. A shutter means 13 capable of covering the upper part of the token tray 14 of each hopper device 11 is individually arranged in a counting device body 2.
