PURPOSE: To make accurate the gap of a pair of shears and provide possibility to measure this gap rapidly by providing a measuring microscope on a base plate placed at the position where the light which has pierced the gap between the cutting edges of the shears is cast.
CONSTITUTION: The base plate 1 constitutes part of a tool rest of a shear processing machine, and one shear 2 is installed separably on the undersurface 1a of base plate 1 with a supporting member 3 interposed. Below this shear 2, a moving plate 4 is installed with possibility to move vertically, and another shear 5 shall be installed in such a way that it forms a couple with the other 2. At the points of base plate 1 and moving plate 4 where the cutting edges 2a, 5a of shears 2, 5 are situated, a through hole 7 is bored straight, just below which a light source 8 shall be installed. Light beams from this light source 8 shall be cast to the gap 9 between the cutting edges 2a, 5a and to the hole 7, and a measuring microscope 10 installed on the point of base plate 1 in line with this path of beams will measure the gap between the shears.
