A light shielding body 33 with a plurality of cutout parts 33a is disposed to obtain lifting information of a movable column 2. A photo interrupter 62 of U-shape formed by placing a transmitting side light emission diode (LED) and a receiving side photo sensor (a photo transistor) to face each other, is disposed at a fixed column 82. The photo interrupter 62 is mounted straddling the light shielding body 33, and the shielding body 33 always passes the same position in a middle part of the U-shape of the photo interrupter 62. When the movable column 2 is lifted, the shielding body 33 with the plurality of cutout parts of the movable column 2 is lifted while intercepting an optical axis of the photo interrupter 62 intermittently. The shading situation (shading timing) by the cutout parts 33a can thereby be successively determined by the photo sensor (photo transistor) which is a receiving part of the photo interrupter 62.
