This garbage disposal apparatus is provided with a garbage housing container 1 which houses garbage, a heating means 2 which heats and dries the garbage in the garbage housing container 1 and a temperature detecting means 3 which detects a temperature in the garbage housing container 1. This garbage disposal apparatus judges that the heating and drying treatment is completed when temperature is elevated by the prescribed increment of temperature in accordance with the stabilized value of the temperature detected by the temperature detecting means 3 from the stabilized value of the temperature. As a result, this garbage disposal apparatus can reliably complete heating and drying irrespective of the quantity of waste, prevents excessive drying treatment and does not cause scorching of garbage.
