PURPOSE: To control the moisture content of garbage to be treated so as to be in the optimum state and also control directly its temp. so as to get an appropriate value.
CONSTITUTION: A moisture content-detecting sensor 13 is provided to detect the moisture content of the garbage to be treated in a treating tank 3 so as to adjust its moisture content. The structure of the moisture content detecting sensor 13 comprises a heating resistor for forcibly heating the sensor and a temp. sensor for detecting a temp. rise caused by the moisture content of the raw garbage upon the heat generation by the heating resistor. A heater 10 is provided to heat the garbage put in the treating tank 3. When the temp. of the raw garbage is at most a predetermined temp. based on the detection signal from the temp. sensor, the heater 10 is operated to regulate the temp. of the raw garbage so as to be at least a predetermined value.
