To solve such a problem that the greater part of organic matter flows to sewerage without being decomposed when the charging amount of garbage is too much in such a case that the size of a treatment tank for decomposing garbage microbially is constant and the load of a terminal sewage treatment plant becomes large or rivers are polluted.
The garbage treatment apparatus is equipped with a grinding means 4 directly connected to a sink 2 to grind garbage and a garbage decomposition treatment tank 6 provided after the grinding means to decompose organic matter by microorganisms and a drain basket 5 a predetermined volume is arranged in the grinding means 4 and, if the size of the drain basket 5 is set so that the charging amount of garbage becomes same to the chargeable amount of the drain basket 5, generated garbage can be charged in the drain basket 5 at any time with sensation charging garbage in the grinding means and, when the drain basket is filled with garbage, it is inverted to charge the garbage in the grinding means. By this constitution, only a proper amount of garbage can be sent in the garbage decomposition treatment tank 6 to be treated.
