To provide a garbage treatment in which inspection, repair and replacement of a stirring blade are easily carried out and further maintenance and service are easily carried out.

A garbage treatment apparatus comprises a storage vessel 1 for storing garbage 1, a stirring means 29 for stirring the garbage in the storage vessel 1 and having the stirring blade 28, a control device 32 for controlling the operation of the stirring means 29, and a position detection means 66 for detecting a stop position of the stirring blade 28 in the storage vessel 1. The stop position of the stirring blade 28 in the storage vessel 1 can be detected by the position detection means 66, thus the maintenance and service of the stirring blade 28 are easily carried out thereby enhancing usability when the stirring blade 28 is inspected or replaced.
