This gardening material is given by boiling the cryptomeria bark to remove harshness therefrom, and then drying the bark. Nutrients, such as a liquefied fertilizer, which plants require are preferably added thereto. Further, the gardening material may be used after molded. The gardening material is suitably used as a ground cover, a substitute for sphagnum, a soil conditioner, etc.
