To provide a linear getter which can be sealed in a space of a closed equipment of every shape.
In a getter G, gas absorbing alloy particles 2 are deposited on the whole outer peripheral part of a core wire 1, and with the gas absorbing alloy particles 2, metal particles 3 softer than them may be mixed. This getter G uses a pair of upper and lower tools to put the core wire 1 between the lower tool and the upper tool on which the gas absorbing alloy particles 2 are scattered, and while a load is applied in the radial direction of the core wire 1 by the upper tool, the upper tool is moved in the direction perpendicular to the axial direction of the core wire 1 to rotate the core wire 1. In this way, a part of the gas absorbing alloy particles 2 is pushed into the outer peripheral part of the core wire 1 to manufacture the getter G.
