A gas analyzer 1 includes: a light source part 10 for irradiating gas to be measured in a gas cell 70 with measurement rays of light including absorption wavelength which is absorbed by water and non-absorption wavelength which is not absorbed by water; a light reception part 20 for receiving the intensity of the measurement rays of light passing the gas to be measured; and an arithmetic part 61a for calculating steam amount information in the gas to be measured on the basis of intensity change I(ν) of the measurement rays of light corresponding to the wavelength. The gas analyzer also includes: a gas type discrimination part 61c for discriminating the type of the gas to be measured on the basis of the intensity change I(ν) of the measurement rays of light corresponding to the wavelength; and an output control part 61b for outputting an arithmetic result as the steam amount information in the gas to be measured, and for outputting a determination result as the type of the gas to be measured.
