A safety valve 2 is inserted into a fuel gas supply passage to a burner 1 combusting fuel gas and temperature in the central part on the bottom face of a cooking container being heated by means of the burner is detected through a temperature sensor 9. When the temperature detected through the temperature sensor 9 exceeds an extinguishing temperature, an extinguish control section 13 closes the safety valve 2 to extinguish the burner 1. Based on the position of a thermal power regulating knob detected by a position detector 5, an extinguishing temperature setting section 14 sets a higher extinguishing temperature for lower thermal power.
