Title:
GAS DETECTING ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS587552
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a detecting element which is used with a gas leak alarm for use with any coal gas being different in gas composition, by manufacturing a gas detecting element with a sintering substance consisting of an effective component in a given ratio of In2O3, SnO2, and PdO.

CONSTITUTION: After starting material powder of 3 components is mixed to produce a sintering substance, containing 25W50wt% In2O3, 75W50wt% SnO2, and 0.06W5wt% PdO, serving as a component effective to a detecting function, the mixture is compression-molded into, for example, the shape of a columnar element wherein two platinum electrodes are embedded in parallel, and the element is burned in air at 600W800°C for 1W3hr to form a gas-sensing substance. The substance is covered with an exploision-proof stainless net to obtain a detecting element which is suitable for gas leak detection for use with coal gas and is sensitive to H2, CH4, butane. The element Sm, acting as a main detecting element, is combined with an alcohol detecting element Ss, and this prevents sounding of an erroneous alarm thanks to alcohol produced at a cooking time.
