To provide a gas detection method which eliminates the interference of a combustible gas, and a gas detection sensor.
In the gas detection method for detecting the concentration of the combustible gas of a mixed gas system, a sensor element, which detects the change in temperature difference caused by the heat generation due to the catalytic reaction of a gas and a catalyst material as a voltage signal by utilizing a thermoelectric conversion theory, is used to detect the concentration of the specific gas in a mixed gas system with high selectivity by utilizing the difference between the gas selective combustion characteristics possessed by a plurality of different catalyst materials. The gas detection sensor for selectively detecting the concentration of the combustible gas of the mixed gas system is characterized by arranging a substrate on which a plurality of different catalyst materials are installed and a thermoelectric conversion part for converting the temperature difference, which is caused from the heat generation due to the catalytic reaction of the gas and the catalyst material, to a voltage signal.
