To provide a gas engine capable of changing an air excess ratio in a combustion chamber with fine responsiveness, and stabilizing combustion during start up speedily.
There is provided a fuel supply means supplying fuel to the vicinity of the combustion chamber of an air supply passage supplying air to the chamber. There is further provided a PID control means adjusting the quantity of the fuel supply by the supply means to prevent an engine stall generated due to the departure of the excess rate from a combustible range and an overshoot exceeding the rated number of rotations. When the number of rotations of the engine reaches the prescribed first rotation number before the departure from the range due to the exceeding air rate, it is speedily brought closely to the rated number by adjusting the quantity of the fuel supply by the PID control means.
