Abstract:

To reduce NOx in exhaust emission and to improve fuel economy while stably operating a gas engine 1.

A cylinder is provided with a detonation inductive pipe 33, and the detonation inductive pipe 33 is elongated with the tip closed. The base end of the detonation inductive pipe 33 is communicated with a combustion chamber 15, and an ignition means 35 for igniting high-temperature and high-pressure lean mixture filling the interior of the detonation inductive pipe 33 is disposed at the tip of the detonation inductive pipe 33. In the gas engine 1, when high-temperature and high-pressure lean mixture filling the interior of the detonation inductive pipe 33 is ignited by the ignition means 35, a flame F is spread from the tip side of the detonation inductive pipe 33 toward the combustion chamber 15 while causing the transition of a detonation wave Dw.
