To provide a gas exchange valve that is used for a reciprocating piston internal combustion engine, and to provide its manufacturing method.
A gas exchange valve 1 comprises a valve shaft 2 extending along an axial valve shaft axis A, and a valve body having a valve disc 3 connected to the valve shaft 2. This valve disc 3 extends apart from the valve shaft 2 in an axial direction, and extends spreading outside in the radial direction to the valve shaft axis A. A valve mating surface 32 is formed in the valve disc 3 between a lower surface 31 of the valve disc 3 formed substantially perpendicular to the valve shaft axis A and the valve shaft 2. According to the present invention, a recess 4 in the form of a first coating recess 41 is provided at a lower surface 31 of the valve disc, and a corrosion protection coating 5 in the form of a first etching protective layer 51 is provided in this coating recess 41.
