To provide the gas generating device for an air bag device, which is furnished with expansion characteristics responding to various conditions at the time of actuating the air bag device.
The gas generating device for an air bag device is provided with a pressure container 1 containing inflammable gas, an ignitor 113 for igniting inflammable gas, and with gas blow-out holes 141 for inducing gas body burned by the ignitor 113, and the pressure container 1 has both a primary combustion chamber 11 capable of being communicated with the gas blow-out holes 141, and a secondary combustion chamber 12 capable of being linked with the primary combustion camber 11, and a linking condition between the primary combustion chamber 11 and the secondary combustion chamber 12 is kept under control in response to specified conditions. By this constitution, the blow-out speed of combustion gas which comes out of the pressure container 1, and goes in an air bag, can be made variable, so that the expansion of the air bag can thereby be adjusted in speed.
