PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator which unfailingly prevents gas leakage during operating time and crush of a gas generating agent during non-operating time and is easily manufactured at lower costs.SOLUTION: A gas generating agent 1A includes: a housing including a top plate part 21 and a bottom plate part 11; a cylindrical filter 90; a gas generating agent 61 which is formed by particulate molded bodies; and metal pressing members 80A. Each pressing member 80A includes: a first contact part 81 which has a cylindrical plate shape and contacts with the filter 90; a second contact part 82 which has a plate-like shape and contacts with the gas generating agent 61; and an annular connection part 83 which connects these contact parts. The connection part 83 has a leaf spring shape expanding toward the top plate part 21 side and contacts with the top plate 21 to be pushed and bent to the inner side which corresponds to the bottom plate part 11 side. The structure causes the first contact part 81 to be elastically biased to the filter 90 and contact with the filter 90 and also causes the second contact part 82 to be elastically biased to the gas generating agent 61 to contact with the gas generating agent 61.
