To provide a gas generator which is light weight and facilitates filling of gas generation agent and winding of a fiber having high resistance against tensile force by forming a combustion chamber by a central cylinder and a thin-walled cylindrical member and winding a bundle of the fiber having high resistance against tensile force or a thread around an outer periphery of the thin-walled cylindrical member to obtain a laminated body having filtering property and resistance against pressure.
A thin-walled metallic cylindrical member 43 is provided coaxially with a central cylinder 32, a flange member 34 on the lower side is screw-fitted and tightened on the central cylinder 32, and an annular combustion chamber 41 is formed between the thin- walled cylindrical member 43 and the central cylinder 32. Gas generation agent 40 like a line is wound around the central cylinder 32 in the shape of coil in this region. Moreover, a fiber having high resistance against tensile force or a thread is wound on an outer peripheral face of the thin-walled cylindrical member 43 across a predetermined interval to form a laminated body 46 having filtering property and resistance against pressure. After a product obtained by winding the gas generation agent 40 around the central cylinder 32 is inserted from above easily, an intermediate diameter section 43a' of the thin-walled cylindrical member 43 is caulked to form a flange section 43a on the upper side and form a predetermined shape, and upper and lower flange members 33, 34 are tightened. Moreover, the laminated body 46 can be formed easily like winding a thread around a bobbin.
