To provide a GIS with a smaller insulation space filled with an insulation gas with fewer components.
The GIS generally includes: a grounded container, a power source side conductor 7, a load side conductor 8, a bipolar EDS, a VCT side output conductor 1B, and a VCT side input conductor 1A. The bipolar EDS has a current path from the power source side conductor 7 to the VCT side input conductor 1A, and a current path from the VCT side output conductor 1B to the load side conductor 8. In particular, the bipolar EDS includes: a bipolar movable contactor 4 having an insulator 17; a bipolar movable side contact 2 having a tulip contact 22 for releasing the power to the outer periphery of the bipolar movable contactor 4; a bipolar fixed side contact 5 having tulip contacts 18 and 23 for releasing the power to the inner periphery and outer periphery of the bipolar movable contactor 4; and a bipolar grounding switching device 6. The bipolar grounding switching device 6 has a short-circuiting contact band 26, a grounding contact band 28, and a grounding conductor 27.
