To provide a gas meter reset mechanism capable of inhibiting using the mechanism in an abnormal condition of gas when a return shaft is pressed in by a finger and the like, and opening the closed shutoff valve securely when the finger is removed.
This gas meter reset mechanism provided with a return shaft 5 to slide along a extension direction of a plunger 3 of a shutoff valve and equipped with a cylindrical sealing body 8 of an end of the return shaft in a valve seat 10 of the shutoff valve reciprocates the return shaft for opening the closing shutoff valve so as to slide the sealing body close to a valve body 20 of the shutoff valve into the valve seat and seal a gap between the valve body and the valve seat with the sealing body while leaving the valve body from the valve seat, wherein the sealing body is provided to move forward and backward at an end of the return shaft, the sealing body is held in the condition where it is pressed to the valve body side by elastic force of an auxiliary spring 9 and moves forward, the return shaft is reciprocated so that the sealing body moves backward in a condition where it is closed to the valve body, and the return shaft butts against the plunger.
