Abstract:
A straight pipe-type gas meter that: has a meter case (13) comprising a gas inlet (11) and a gas outlet (12) on the same axis; and comprises a meter controller (18), an acceleration sensor (19), and a gas shutoff valve (16). The acceleration sensor (19) detects the direction of gravity and determines the attachment orientation of the meter case (13). The meter controller (18) notifies when the acceleration sensor (19) has determined that a sealing surface of a valve (16a) in the gas shutoff valve (16) is facing upward from the ground surface. As a result of the notification from the meter controller (18), a worker can be alerted, the attachment orientation of the gas meter corrected, and reduction in sealing properties when gas is shutoff using the gas shutoff valve (16) can be prevented.
