Abstract:

Sulfur and sulfur compounds contained in a gas are oxidized in contact with a catalyst comprising vanadium oxide, iron oxide and alumina, said catalyst having a surface higher than 30 m2/g and being obtained by impregnation of aluminum with soluble vanadium and iron compounds.
