Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a gas pressure welding method which does not require strict shaping at the end face of a steel bar, is easy to execute and features good working efficiency.

CONSTITUTION: A coating material to be applied on the joining end face of the steel bar is prepd. by compounding a deoxidizing agent and/or dehydrogenating agent as an essential component with a resin component. An alkyd resin, urethane resin, etc., are used as the resin component. Ferrosilicon, ferromanganese, etc., are used as the deoxidizing agent. A chlorinated polyethylene, chlorinated polypropylene, etc., are used as the dehydrogenating agent. The end of reinforcing bars 20, 20 in a contactless state are heated up to a prescribed temp. by acetylene flames from a heating section 14 of a gas pressure welding machine 10 and the reinforcing bars 20, 20 are joined by operating a pressurizing section 12 after a half molten state is attained. The pressure welded joint having the performance equiv. to the performance obtainable when the end faces are held in contact with each other are obtd. by the effect of the coating material applied thereon even if the end faces of the reinforcing bars 20, 20 are held in the contactless state.
