Title:
GAS REACTOR OF MULTISTEP COOLING TYPE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06172760
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the subject reactor having a small size and high capabili ties.

CONSTITUTION: A reformed gas (a mixture of CO with H2O) as an unreacted gas is supplied through an inlet 12 installed at the upper part of a reactor 10 and is passed through the first catalyst packed bed 14, the first cooler 16, the second catalyst packed bed 18, the second cooler 20, the third catalyst packed bed 22, the third cooler 24, and the fourth catalyst packed bed 26 sequentially. Passing through the catalyst packed beds 14, 18, 22, and 26 causes the reaction of CO with H2O, producing CO2 and H2. Although the reaction is exothermic, the gas temp. is lowered with the coolers 16, 20, and 24. Thus, the size and wt. of the reactor can be reduced. If the reactor is made dividable, then the catalyst can be exchanged easily and quickly.
