Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain stabilized uniform glow discharge and to facilitate activation of gas by providing a first electrode in the inside of a dielectric container for allowing a first gas to flow and a second electrode on the outside wall of the dielectric container, energizing both electrodes, and generating the glow discharge in the dielectric container.
SOLUTION: When AC electric power is impressed between an internal electrode 11 and an external electrode 12 from an electric power source 30, the glow discharge is generated between both electrodes 11, 12 via the container 13. When gas A is injected into the container 13 in this state via a gas injection tube 20, the gas A is excited with the glow discharge and an auxiliary work of two catalyst 14, 15 for excitation provided on the surface of the internal electrode 11, moving to a region provided with the catalyst 16 for activation from the discharge region. The gas A activated with assistance of the catalyst 16 flows into gas B injected from a gas injection tube 21 to be mixed, and a chemical reaction of both gas A, B generates and obtained gas C is discharged via a gas discharge tube 22.
