Title:
GAS SENSOR USING ORGANIC CONDUCTIVE POLYMER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04131755
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a gas sensor having high speed responsiveness and high selectivity by forming a comb type electrode on the surface of an organic conductive polymer alone or its composite film with a general purpose polymer.

CONSTITUTION: On the surface of an organic conductive polymer 3, or a composite film 3 of the organic conductive polymer and a general purpose polymer, a comb type electrode 2 is formed. A voltage is applied to the electrode 2 at room temperature in the atmosphere, and the electric conductivity is measured. A fixed concentration of a detection gas is sprayed to a gas sensor, and the electric conductivity is measured to determine the change ratio G(%) of electric conductivity. In the case of the polymer alone, the electric conductivity is changed by the transfer of electron from various gases to the polymer film, and a single gas is selectively detected in the mixed gas. In the case of the composite film, the electric conductivity of the organic conductive polymer is changed, and the gas diffusion coefficient is also changed according to the kind of the general purpose polymer, so that gas selectivity is caused. Thus, detecting sensitivity, detecting speed and reversibility are improved, and selective gas detection can be performed.
