Title:
GAS TURBINE ENGINE AND SMUDGE SEPARATING DEVICE DISPOSED THEREIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2007064211
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To clean air fed to various parts of a gas turbine engine by separating smudge from the radial outer side air.

A radial outer side cooling air flow 26 is fed to the gas turbine engine 120. A smudge separating device 130 is installed in a passage for the radial outer side cooling air flow 26. The smudge separating device comprises a radial outer side leg part 134 demarcating a space 133 for collecting the smudge and other impurities. The radial inner leg part 135 of the smudge separating device 130 includes an air flow opening passage 136 capable of flowing the air to the downstream side through the inner leg part 135 to cool the various parts in the gas turbine engine 120. A hole 142 is formed in a housing 140 at an area near the outer leg part 134 of the smudge separating device 130. The hole 142 provides a cleaning device 15 with an access for periodically removing the separated smudge.
