Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a downdraft gasifier of woody biomass, achieving high thermal efficiency and downsizing; a power generator; and a gasification method.SOLUTION: A gasifier 10 which uses a gasification furnace 24 with a downdraft stationary bed for gasification of woody biomass includes pressure application means 23 which applies pressure P inside the gasification furnace so as to control the direction of gas moving by natural convection NC due to difference in temperature of the gas in the gasification furnace. The pressure application means controls the application pressure P such that the gas in the gasification furnace comes to not only an upper part but also a region extending from the upper part to the central part. Consequently the region in which a thermal decomposition layer A1, a combustion layer A2 and a reduction layer A3 are formed is enlarged downward further in comparison with a conventional gasifier. The amount of combustible gas produced is thereby increased to improve the thermal efficiency.
