PURPOSE: To provide the gasifying apparatus of a small scale at a low cost with ease of maintenance and low air pollution having a high operating efficiency by providing the gasifying apparatus with a cylindrical tank having a bottom, stainless-steel made outer and inner jackets and high-temperature insulated side walls between the jackets.

CONSTITUTION: The gasifying apparatus is a gasifier for converting solid organic fuels into combustible gas that includes a cylindrical tank 12 having a stainless- steel made outer jacket 12, a stainless-steel made inner jacket 44, and a high temperature insulating material 46 between the jackets, and preferably the inner jacket 12 has a liner consisting of fire bricks 48. An upper part of an inverted truncated cone 66 is open, through which organic fuels with air for combustion are supplied from a hopper 34, and residence time of the combustion gas in a high temperature section is increased by a series of baffles 78, 80, 82, 84 placed under a grate 70 in the tank to increase a fluid velocity of draft gas.
