Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a gastrointestinal drug showing excellent effects on treatment and prevention of various gastrointestinal drug by synergistic action by using both an extract of Licorice root with methanol and an acid suppressing agent and a mucosa repairing agent.

CONSTITUTION: (A) An extract of Licorice root with methanol, such as an extract prepared by extracting Licorice root with methanol or a substance prepared by extracting Licorice root with methanol and then purifying through fractionation with an alkali or an acid is used with (B) an acid suppressing agent, preferably synthetic hydrotalcite, magnesium aluminate silicate and/or (C) a mucosa repairing agent, preferably L-glutamine, water-soluble azulene or aluminum salt of sucrose sulfuric ester in the ratio of the component A:B:C of (1:0.01:0.001)-(1:3.5:3.5), especially (1:0.03:0.005)-(1:2.7:2.7). A dose of the gastrointestinal drug is 600-1,600mg/day calculated as the component A per adult.
