Title:
GATE CIRCUIT FOR GATE TURN-OFF THYRISTOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS59136070
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain a desired ON gate current without increasing the capacity of a power source by providing the secondary winding at the secondary side of a pulse transformer for supplying an OFF gate current, thereby charging a capacitor for supplying the ON gate current. CONSTITUTION:A gate circuit of a gate turn OFF thyristor (GTO)1 is composed of a series circuit of a gate resistor 2, a transformer 8, a rectifier 9, a condenser (C)10 and a switching element 11, and an OFF gate circuit 70, and the C10 is charged by the second winding n22 provided at the secondary side of a pulse transformer 7 for supplying an OFF gate current of the circuit 70. When the circuit 70 is operated, the C10 is charged. When a switch of the primary side of the power source 8 for supplying an ON gate current of the GTO is turned ON, the element 11 is turned ON through the rectifier 9, the current Ip due to the discharge of the C10 is added to the current due to the ON gate current, an ON gate current which is more abrupt and large peak value can be obtained. When the supply of the ON gate current is stopped and the circuit 70 is operated, the C10 can be again charged.
