To provide a gate device capable of easily closing a water passage of a culvert by a tidal wave.
An inventive gate device 10 includes: a building 20 provided with a penetrated opening 22 continuing to an upper surface opening 14 of a culvert 12 in a floor surface, and having a flooding opening 24 which is formed in a side wall and through which flowing water with a higher level than the culvert 12 flows into an inside; a float 30 housed in the building 20 in a vertically movable manner and vertically moving in the inside following the water level due to flooding of the building 20; driving means 80 housed in the inside of the building 20 and moving back and forth interlocking with the vertical movement of the float 30; and a gate 50 connected to the driving means 80 via a cable body 40, fixed to a position where a water passage is opened inside the culvert 12 during water-intake of the culvert 12, and moving to open/close the water passage interlocking with the vertical movement of the float 30.
