Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear having such a high tooth flank fatigue strength that enables the gear to endure long-term use, by improving initial fitness during gear rolling, and to provide a gear assembly and a reduction gear.SOLUTION: A gear is subjected to gas carburizing and quenching to form: a non-martensite quenched layer 4 having a thickness of 5-30 μm from the tooth flank and composed of at least one kind of bainite, troostite, ferrite and perlite and the remainder inevitable components; and a retained austenite layer 5 formed just below the non-martensite quenched layer 4 and in a depth region within 100 μm from the tooth flank and containing a retained austenite of 20-40%.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
