To reduce the size of a gear transmission device using a dual clutch.
A first and a second sub-shafts 17, 18 are provided to be parallel with a first and a second input shafts 15, 16 that are co-axially arranged. A first gear transmission mechanism 20A is provided between both the input shafts and the first sub-shafts and a second gear transmission mechanism 20B is provided between both the input shafts and the second sub-shafts. For respective gears of a backing gear train consisting of a backing drive gear 27a, backing middle gears 27b, 27c and a backing driven gear 27d that are sequentially meshed, the backing drive gears are provided for one of the input shafts, the backing middle gear is provided for one of the sub-shafts and the backing driven gear 27d is provided for the other sub-shaft and switch clutches 30E and 30A for engaging and disengaging power transmission by the backing gear train are provided. Instead of arranging the first and the second sub-shafts in parallel with the first and the second input shafts, the first and the second sub-shafts 37, 38 may be arranged to be parallel with one output shaft 39 and the respective gears may be provided in the same manner.
