To provide a small gear type transmission of shorter support length of an input shaft and an output shaft.
This gear type transmission is provided with an input shaft 20, an output shaft 30, a counter shaft 40, and a reverse idler shaft 50, that are parallel to each other. Input gears 21-25 are provided on the input shaft 20. An output gear 31 is fixed on the output shaft 30. Shift counter gears 41-45 engaged with the input gears 21-25 to compose shift gear pairs for forward driving speed with the gears 21-25, and a reduction counter gear 46 engaged with the output gear 31 to compose a reduction gear pair for forward driving speed with the gear 31 are provided on the counter shaft 40. A first idler gear 51 engaged with the shift counter gear 44, and a second idler gear 52 engaged with the output gear 31 are provided on the reverse idler shaft 50. The respective idler gears 51 and 52 are separately rotatable from each other, and they can be coupled with each other.
