To provide a geared motor for which the same controller can be used when the output shaft is rotated in a first direction by supplying power of first polarity to the motor, and when the output shaft is rotated in a second direction by supplying power of second polarity to the motor.
A geared motor 1 has a motor 14 for driving an output shaft 2, and a potentiometer 40 for detecting the rotation angle of the output shaft 2. Power is supplied to the motor 14 via a connector. The potentiometer 40 is connected electrically with a connector 13, and a signal from the potentiometer 40 is outputted to the outside via the connector 13. When inverting the polarity of power supplied to the connector 13, rotation direction of the motor 14 is reversed thus reversing the rotation direction of the output shaft 2, and the polarity of a voltage applied to the potentiometer 40. A signal indicating the rotation angle of the output shaft 2 in the rotation direction is outputted from the potentiometer 40.
