To obtain the subject seed capable of being subjected to germination- promoting treatment, hardly damaging the bud or the root in the treatment after the germination, and hardly providing the fear of generation of disease such as blast neck rot by covering a brown rice formed into the nondisease state with a specific gel layer.
A brown rice formed into the nondisease state with an aqueous gel layer to provide the objective seed. Preferably, the seed has a nearly spherical shape, and the aqueous gel layer contains an antiseptic added thereto. The aqueous solution or the like of sodium alginate, sodium polyacrylate or the like is cited as the aqueous solution for forming the aqueous gel. A divalent metal such as calcium and barium, aluminum or the like can be used as a metal ion for hardening the aqueous solution to form the aqueous gel.
