PURPOSE: A high-viscosity gel fuel composition that is obtained by mixing an aqueous solution or dispersion of naturally occurring polysaccharides, mineral oil and fine powder of coal with a specific particle size in a specific proportion under a high shear force, thus showing improved suspension or dispersion stability and combustibility.

CONSTITUTION: The objective gel fuel composition is obtained by mixing, under high shear stress by means of a homogenizer, (A) 1pt.wt. of water containing dispersed or dissolved, naturally occurring polysaccharide such as carrageenan, guar gum, locustbean gum, xanthane gum or alginate salt, (B) 0.1W3pts.wt. of mineral oil such as light or heavy oil and (C) 0.1W3pts.wt. of fine powder coal of less than 200μ particle sizes.
