This invention provides a compound containing isomers thereof: useful as the surfactants of formula (1), wherein (a) and (b) are each an integer independently selected from about 3 to about 6; (x) is an integer from about 1 to about 12; (m+n) is from about 1 to about 4; R1 groups are independently selected from the group consisting of a linear, cyclic, or branched alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, or alkylaryl groups having from about 3 to about 30 carbon atoms; and when (m+n) is equal to or greater than 2, each R1 may be independently R2 or R3, wherein R2 and R3 are independently selected from the group consisting of a linear, cyclic, and branched alkyl, alkenyl, aryl, and alkylaryl groups having from about 3 to about 30 carbon atoms.
