Abstract:

To obtain the subject new gene comprising a gene containing DNA having a specific base sequence coding a polyurethane decomposing enzyme, having polyurethane decomposing activity and useful for preparation, etc., of a transforming microorganism capable of carrying out polyurethane treatment.

This new gene coding polyurethane esterase contains DNA comprising a base sequence of -100 to 1647th in a base described in the formula containing a base sequence coding a polyurethane decomposing enzyme and is useful for preparation, etc., of transformed microorganism applicable to treating technique of polyurethane, because the gene has sufficient polyurethane decomposing activity. The gene is obtained by separating whole DNA from Comamonas acidovorans TB-35 strain, completely decomposing the strain with a restriction enzyme EcoRI and carrying out Southern hybridization using a synthetic oligonucleotide having a partial sequence of polyurethane esterase gene as a probe.
