Abstract:
To provide a general-purpose engine including an auto choke device which has a simple structure and achieves excellent maintainability.SOLUTION: A general-purpose engine E includes: a cooling fan 12 which is fixed to a crank shaft 4; a muffler 34 which muffles exhaust; a muffler cover 36 which covers the muffler 34; and an auto choke device 32 which utilizes heat of the muffler 34 to control an opening of a choke valve 30. The auto choke device 32 includes: a driving source 38 which is attached to the muffler cover 36 in a non-contact manner to the muffler 34; and a link member 40 which connects the driving source 38 to the choke valve 30. The driving source 38 has: a bracket 42 attached to the muffler cover 36; and a bimetal 44 attached to the inner side of the bracket 42. The bracket 42 has a heat shielding part 60 which extends to the inner side of the muffler cover 36 and blocks a cooling wind W flowing to the bimetal 44.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
