Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a power generating system discharging no exhaust gas by disposing a gas turbine in the downstream of a closed cycle MHD generator unit operating with rare gas heated through combustion of oxygen and hydrocarbons thereby realizing high efficiency power generation and treating/ collecting the exhaust gas thereof, i.e., carbon dioxide gas.

CONSTITUTION: Combustion gas from a combustor 10 is mainly composed of carbon dioxide gas and steam and the combustion gas is fed to a rare gas heater 11 in order to heat rare gas to a high temperature. Thus heated rare gas is then fed to a closed cycle MHD generator unit 12. Combustion gas from the rare gas heater 11 drives a gas turbine 20 and the cooled combustion gas is introduced to a condenser 14 where substantially pure carbon dioxide gas is produced which is then introduced to a CO2 treating unit where the carbon dioxide gas is liquefied and collected. According to the constitution, generation efficiency is considerably increased without discharging exhaust gas.
