Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a timer for splitting time into two stages, a low accuracy stage and a high accuracy stage, in order to generate a more precise PWM signal frequency.SOLUTION: A timer includes: a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal generator configured to generate a PWM signal having first frequency resolution based on a clock; a PWM time shifter configured to receive the PWM signal having the first frequency resolution from the PWM signal generator to output a PWM signal having a second frequency resolution higher than the first frequency resolution; and a control monitoring unit for controlling the PWM time shifter to time-shift a leading edge or a fall edge of the PWM signal for an amount corresponding to the second frequency resolution.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
