To provide a generator control device that can surely brake a generator even if the device breaks down.
When there occurs an abnormality such that a converter 18 or a generator control unit 21 breaks down, the generator 2b cannot be applied with braking by the control of the number of revolutions, thereby increasing the number of revolutions of the generator 2b, and accordingly boosting an output voltage of a converter 16. The output voltage of the converter 16 is divided by resistors 18a, 18b of a voltage detector 18. When the divided voltage value becomes equal to an on-voltage of a switching element 17b, the switching element 17b is turned on. As a result, power generation energy obtained from the generator 2b is consumed at a power consuming resistor 17a, the number of revolutions of the generator 2b is reduced, and an increase can be suppressed in the output voltage of the converter 16.
