To provide a generator starter system capable of realizing use/no-use of a harmonic filter to automatically prevent wasteful occurrence of degradation and power loss of an apparatus, regardless of type of a power supply system which supplies power to a frequency converter.
In the case where an electric power is supplied from a power supply system 5 whose capacitance is less than a predetermined set value to trigger a thyristor startup device 3, a breaker 9 is activated, a breaker 8 is activated, a harmonic filter 4 is activated, and then a breaker 7 is activated to trigger the thyristor startup device 3. A generator 2 is triggered by activating the breaker 6, and a harmonic is suppressed by activating the harmonic filter 4. In the case where a power is supplied from a power supply system 11 whose capacitance is a set value or larger for triggering, a breaker 10 is activated, and the breaker 7 is activated, to trigger the thyristor startup device 3. The generator 2 is triggered by activating the breaker 6, avoiding wasteful activation of the harmonic filter 4.
