Abstract:
To prepare endothelial cells which were genetically treated to be able to express their characters in vivo, and to apply them to the artificial blood vessel as an application of the endothelial cells.
A selectable marker such as an objective polypeptide or protein and, optionally, a genetic material encodiung the selectable marker, for example, a hormone such as human parathyroid hormone, a receptor such as factor VIII, an enzyme such as β-galactosidase, and a selected protein not produced by a naturally occurring endothelial cell were transformed to give an endothelial cell than can be expressed in vivo. A method is also disclosed for in vivo implantation of a blood vessel whose inner surface was lined with the endothelial cells.
